IT"S DONE !

Hi All,
I have been putting off taking my final test in Fundamentals of Health Information, it gave us three hours and scared the heck out of me but its done and even before she reviews the fill in questions I have 89 percent correct so I look for that to go up. YEA!!!!! This means that if I did ok on my paper for comp that I will have A's in both classes this term and I am tickled pink.
I have until July 7th till next term starts so am going to make good use of my time off. I am going swimming at the Benson Center and I want to make a trip down home for a couple of days to see my family.
I have enjoyed doing this blog and hope some of you have enjoyed reading it. I am going to end with a short poem:

My Life

No one can my stop progress in my life
Its up to me and not up to them
I will keep my heart and mind focused
And be the strongest I have ever been

I have so many goals now
For those goals I will strive and reach
My mind is a sponge and now open
To absorb the lessons they now teach

There is no way possible now
That I could ever take the road back
I will tow the heavy burdened line
And tighten up any loose slack

so onward I push on and on
In times of good and in times of strife
God put me on earth to live and learn
And to have a wonderful blessed life.

Have a great week everyone!

nail biting time

Hi All,
Handed in my final project for College Composition 11 for the Health Care and now it is nail biting time. I tried very hard to fix everything the Professor noted on my first rough draft now I just have to wait it out and see how I did. I have a couple of peers who I think are so above me it makes me nervous at times. I try to remember how many old gals would even think of doing what I am doing at my age then I laugh.I have been through many things in my life, some of them very rough so in terms of that waiting for a grade should be a walk in the park.
I am looking forward to having a couple of weeks off before the next term especially since I have anatomy then and I have heard it is a difficult class. I will be like Scarlett O'Hara and think about that tomorrow. lol
I hope everyone is having a good week. NO poems or recipes this time but look out because I am going to keep doing this blog even after class ends and you know more will come then. See ya!

finals

Hi Everyone
Getting ready for finals for this term next week. Have made many revisions to my paper on gastric bypass. The hardest thing was narrowing down the information. I remember years ago no one knew anything about the procedure now it seems to be an umber subject. I did take the advice of some of my peers that I received to help make my paper better. I hope everyone is doing OK with their papers we had such a rocky beginning. I thank heavens that our new professor stepped in when she did and I know it was a hard task and we appreciate her so very much.
Now on a personal note, got a call today from my lawyer and my divorce was final on the 14th, it was supposed to be the 21st but I guess the judge bumped it up a bit. And yes this is good news. lol I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, I am going to finalize my paper changes and get it sent in next week and then the final exam in fundamentals and this term is done. Remember my friends in this life we are never alone we have friends, family, and faith. Keep trying no matter the task and you will get there.

Hi All,
Worked my hiney off this weekend on homework and my research paper. Got a lot of good tips to revise my paper. I will turn it into the Kaplan writing center this week and get review before submitting my final version.
This month is a hard one for me, it is my Dad's birthday and Mom & Dad's anniversary, they are both gone now. So funny people laugh and say I am ornery but I am just a chip off the old block.
My mother was the oldest of six and was raised poor and an country girl. My dad had one brother and lived in the small town close to where my mom lived. One Saturday night my grandpa decided to take the kids into town to take them roller skating (none of them had been). Mom caught on quick and skated awhile before going to the counter to get a soft drink. The man who owned the rink also worked the counter and was watching a young man skate and was laughing and said "I would give anyone five bucks to trip Aubrey McDaniel on his butt". Mom asked who that was and he pointed to the fancy skating young man. Mom said "get your money ready". She went out into the ring and asked my dad to skate (pretty risky' for back then) and skated around the rink a few times then politely stuck her skate in front of him and tripped him. She went back to the counter and collected her money ( that was a lot for back then, she worked at a factory and made 25 cents an hour). Dad asked her out later that night and they were married within a year.
so if I am ornery like I said just a chip off the old block. Nothing like roots and family. This leads into a poem I wrote a few years ago about family.

TAPESTRY OF MY LIFE

As days go by I see things differently
New shades of memories I see
How beautiful the threads of my life
Woven into a magnificent tapestry

The people and places that have shaped me
From now back to my childhood days
Stay in my heart colored deeply
Cherished memories that always will stay

In tapestry threads worn more than others
I see family gone into glory before
Their colors of love reach me deeper
And strengthen my soul to its very core

The bright strong threads reveal the future
Of my children and those down the line
My heart warms just knowing my heritage
Will flourish with the passing of time

Thank God for life's tapestry given
All threads, people, places, and things
That bless my life so completely
And give my heart its golden wings.

Have a great week everyone.

Another week started

Hi All,
Am a little disappointed today. I wanted to use Dr. Hornbostel in my composition paper on gastric bypass but not able to contact him. He is out on medical leave, hurt his shoulder somehow. The good thing is that the patient and friend of mine who has had the surgery has given me permission to use her views and experiences so that should help make my paper a little better.
I spent all weekend doing homework. The quizzes in the Fundamentals of Health Information class are scaring me to death, there is a quiz every week and I freeze up on testing sometimes.
Son and daughter in law came to visit last night for awhile and he was talking about my cooking and how I always made his favorite chicken and dumplings on his birthday. Since I am now alone I had to pare that recipe down a lot but its still a wonderful comfort food. And yes you know it a recipe is about to follow. Make it sometime and tell me how you like it.

Chicken and Dumplings

Boil three chicken breast in a large pot of water until tender. Add chicken bouillon to taste.

In a bowl mix
2 1/2 cups flour
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons chicken bouillon (optional)
may add herbs to taste

Bring liquid in pan to a full boil
either roll out bowl mixture and cut into noodles or drop by spoonfuls into hot liquid and cook for at least ten minutes, longer if the dumplings are large. Add chicken back in or place at side on plate.

Have a great week and take time to make some good memories.
